FAQ: How to Prepare Indian Teams for Successful U.S. Client Collaboration

🧑‍🏫 Who Facilitates the Cross-Cultural Training?

Most sessions are led by our founder, a PCC-certified coach with over 15 years of experience supporting India–U.S. teams. She’s worked with 60+ companies since 2011 and is certified in tools like Country Navigator, GlobeSmart, and Aperian Global. Her approach blends coaching, cultural insight, and real-world business scenarios.

Training is always customized to reflect your team’s goals, industry, and collaboration style. We don’t teach theory—we coach professionals to thrive in everyday client interactions.

Fun fact, since 1998, she has traveled to and from India over 30 times, lived in India twice. The first time she lived full time in India from 1999-2001, she earned her Master’s degree from Madras Christian College as the only non-Indian in her course/department. The second time she moved to India full time as an expat between 2011-2017 after marrying her Indian husband. During her second stay living in India is when she became an expat entrepreneur starting Authentic Journeys at Infopark, Kerala.

🌍 Audience & Cultural Pairing

Who benefits from cross-cultural training? Indian professionals working with U.S. clients—especially in IT, remote services, and relocation contexts—see the most immediate impact. They gain tools to navigate communication styles, build trust, and collaborate more effectively across time zones and expectations.

But the benefits extend beyond them. U.S. colleagues and clients also experience smoother collaboration, clearer communication, and stronger relationships. When one side grows in cultural awareness, everyone wins.

🛠️ Training Style

What cross-cultural training framework works best for IT teams in India? Practical, scenario-driven training works best for cross-cultural business communication programs delivered to Indian professionals. We focus on real business situations that are common in USA- India business situations —status updates, demos, email writing, and client calls—using role plays, coaching, and reflection. We like to call this the “flipped classroom.” A base of content will be delivered, then the majority of the rest of the program consist of role plays and presentations for participants to showcase their learnings while also working on project management, time management, collaboration and other team building skills. From there, sessions focus on giving feedback and tailoring content based on the needs of the group. Though this training is delivered virtually, it works well as most of the Indian team members are working in person, in the same office together (in most cases).

👥 Group Size & Customization

How many people should attend cross-cultural training for best results? 8–12 participants is ideal. This allows for interaction, coaching, and personalized feedback. One-on-one coaching is available. Customization is offered and may affect pricing.

✍️ Email Writing

Will participants receive personalized feedback on their email writing during training? Yes. Group critique is standard. Personalized email correction is available as an add-on. We help participants write clearer, culturally aligned emails that build trust.

📈 Goal Tracking

Will participants receive tools to track their progress during cultural sensitivity training? Optional goal trackers and rubrics are available. These can be aligned with KPIs or team goals to help participants reflect on their growth and apply what they’ve learned.

💰 Pricing & Invoicing

What’s included in the cost for cross-cultural training? Standard pricing includes delivery and materials. Customization, consulting, or additional coaching may add to the cost. Invoicing is typically one-time; large projects may be split.

🎥 Delivery Platforms

What platforms are used for virtual cross-cultural training? Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams.

⏰ Asynchronous Options

Do you offer asynchronous options for teams with limited overlap in working hours? Currently, most programs are delivered live (virtually). For teams with limited overlap, we offer flexible scheduling, staggered cohorts, and asynchronous prep materials. Self-paced modules are in development for 2026, and blended formats can be customized to support onboarding or scale. Our partners can assist with in person delivery.

What are the timings and schedules of cross-cultural awareness training delivery with US teams if the trainer is in the US? While we actively look to provide cross-cultural awareness training to teams in India working US processes during US business hours, many IT teams we work with do have limited overlap with US hours, hence in these cases we may deliver shorter sessions over more weeks (30-45 minute sessions over 2 -3 months instead of 90-120 minute sessions over 4-5 weeks.)

🔁 Refresher Sessions

Are follow-up sessions available for cross-cultural training? Yes—refresher sessions are available and encouraged. Many clients schedule follow-ups 3–6 months after the initial training to reinforce learning and address new challenges.

🚀 Pilot & Scale

Can we pilot a cross-cultural training program before scaling it across the organization? Yes. Many clients start with a pilot to test the format and gather feedback. Based on reception, we iterate and scale through facilitated sessions or train-the-trainer models. Another model of scaling has been delivering a cross-cultural orientation to new employees over the span of years every time a new batch is hired.

🧭 Addressing Stereotypes

How are cultural stereotypes handled in training? We treat stereotypes as cultural tendencies—not fixed truths. Through real-life examples, role plays, and open dialogue, participants learn to reflect, adapt, and respond with empathy.
