January 
1 – New Year’s Day
2nd Monday – Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday

 

February 
First Sunday – Superbowl Sunday (Football)
2 – Groundhog’s Day
14 – Valentine’s Day (not typically observed/wished at work by colleagues)
3rd Monday – Washington’s Birthday/President’s Day

Regional Holiday: Mardi Gras – New Orleans, Louisiana (The date of Mardi Gras is determined by the date of Easter. Mardi Gras falls 47 days before Easter, somewhere between mid February and early March.)

 

March
All Month – March Madness
1st Sunday @2am – Daylight Savings Time Begins

8 – International Women’s Day (not as widespread)
17 – St. Patrick’s Day

Late March- Early April – Good Friday/Easter
Good Friday is not a holiday for many office goers in the US. However, during the week of Good Friday and Easter, many schools have a week vacation.

15 – Tax Day USA
22 – Earth Day
May 
1 – May Day
5 – Cinco De Mayo
2nd Sunday – Mother’s Day
25 – Memorial DayMay mid to June end- school ends USA & Graduation Season

1 – Flag Day
19 – Juneteenth

 

July
4 – Independence Day
24 – Pioneer Day (Utah and nearby areas)

 

August 
August mid- September – “Back to School Season” School starts

First Monday – Labor Day
11 – Patriot Day

 

October 
12th (observed on the 2nd Monday) – Columbus Day (also known as: Indigenous People’s Day, Discovery Day in various regions) – Rarely noticed as an office holiday
31 – Halloween

 

November
1st Tuesday after the 1st Monday, US Election Day (See – Dos and Don’ts about talking about politics at work with US Americans)
1st Sunday @2am – Daylight Savings Time Ends
11 – Veteran’s Day (When this day falls on a Saturday or Sunday, it’s observed on the following Monday)
20 – Children’s Day (not as common in the USA)
4th Thursday – Thanksgiving (USA)
Day after Thanskgiving – Black Friday

25 – Christmas Day
26 – Jan 1 – Kwanzaa
29 – New Year’s Eve
