Forgot to Change the Clock for Fall Back – What Will Happen?

Posted On: November 2, 2015

You wake up in a cold sweat on the Monday after the first Sunday of November thinking,

“I forgot to change the clock for daylight saving time? What will happen?”

First of all, you can relax… if possible… sleep an extra hour longer. If you start getting ready at the normal time for work or school after the time change, but your clock did not change, you will be one hour early! But, as I always say, it’s better to be early than late

Forgot to Change the Clock for Fall Back – What Will Happen?

Why does this happen? Well, it’s because when we turn the clocks back (fall back) we feel like we are gaining an extra hour (the same hour we felt we lost in the springtime, remember?). So, due to this, instead of it being 6am, it’s really 5am. For many, this reality really doesn’t set in until they walk out to their cars at 5:30 and it’s pitch dark because the sun sets one hour earlier this Monday than last Monday!

So, let’s see how it looks like when the clocks fall back. Clocks that change automatically (like our computer or digital clocks), will change from 1:59am to 1am on the first Sunday of November. Yep, you read that right-  we go back in time!

So, if you would be early to work on the Monday after fall back if you did not change your clock, would you be late or early if your clock did not change for spring ahead? Though I think you know the answer, more about this is discussed here
